Almost 7,000 households are set to receive £25 each from Â鶹´«Ã½ Borough Council by the end of the month.

This additional payment is being made from the Discretionary Energy Rebate Fund, which was undersubscribed when the application deadline passed.

Â鶹´«Ã½ Borough Council was given £201,750 to grant £150 payments towards energy bills for those who were not eligible under the terms of the core and band A-D energy rebate schemes earlier this year.

However, this scheme was undersubscribed so the council has decided that the best way to spend the remaining money – around £174,000 – is to give a payment of £25 to households in the Council Tax Reduction Scheme, as well as disabled people, students and carers – a total of 6,964 properties.

Of this figure, 1,318 customers will receive a £25 credit on their Council Tax account. The remaining 5,646 will receive £25 in their bank account by 31 October.
