Our shared commitments
Proof of Right to Work ID
It is a criminal offence to employ anyone not entitled to live or work in the United Kingdom. Before an offer of employment is made we will ask you to produce original documents to demonstrate your eligibility for employment.
Code of Conduct
We expect the highest standards of conduct from our staff. Our Code of Conduct applies to all employees.
Conditions of appointment
Most appointments are subject to the conditions of service of the National Joint Council for Local Government Services. These are supplemented or amended by conditions agreed locally.
Disclosure checks
For certain posts, we will ask you to submit an application for a Disclosure and Barring Check (DBS) from the Disclosure and Barring Service. Posts that require a DBS will involve regular unsupervised contact with children, working with older people and other vulnerable groups.
Job share
For most of our vacant posts, we welcome applications to job share. This enables two people to share a full-time post on an agreed basis. If you are interested in job sharing disclose this on your application form and we will discuss with you further at interview.
Probationary review
As a new starter with the council you will need to successfully complete a probationary period. Your manager will monitor and review your progress at regular intervals.
